The first thing to do before purchasing eyeglasses whether online or in-store, is to get a prescription from your eye doctor, optometrist or ophthalmologist. Once your doctor has determined the proper diopter strength and pupillary distance for your prescription, you can head online to your favorite store and choose a frame style based on your taste and preference. DIFF Eyewear offers you the option to order any eyeglass frames and customize them with your prescribed diopter Rx strength.
Please note that a current prescription that includes the doctor’s information, date of service and signature of the doctor are required to process your order. All prescriptions are checked by our in house optician to ensure your glasses are perfect! During the ordering process you will have the following options: 1) Upload the valid prescription as a PDF, JPG, or PNG, 2) Choose your on-file prescription if you are an existing customer.
Your PD is the distance from the center of one pupil to the center of the other in millimeters. This information is necessary to properly center your prescription correctly in your frames. It's important to note that the average PD is between 57 and 65mm. You may have two PD values - one for each eye. It is best to get this measured by your eye care professional. If your doctor did not include your PD measurement with your prescription, follow these easy steps to find your PD before you start your order: 1) Place a ruler or credit card against your forehead and line up an edge with your right pupil, 2) Looking straight ahead, mark the location of your left pupil on the ruler or credit card, and 3) Repeat multiple times and take an average measurement to ensure an accurate PD.
Prescription glasses are medical devices that correct your vision by allowing your eye to project light on the right spot in your retina. The correct lenses compensate your eye's inability to focus an image onto the retina.
A prescription between +/-.025 to +/-2.00 is considered mild, the range between +/-2.25 to +/-5.00 is considered moderate, and anything greater than +/-5.00 is considered severe.
The adjustment period depends on various factors. If you are a first time glasses wearer, it could take up to two weeks to adjust to your new visual aids.
DIFF offers premium high index 1.60 with every order and includes anti-reflective coating, anti-scratch coating, hydrophobic coating and ultra violet protection. Upgrade options include: Ultra thin 1.67 lens material for stronger prescriptions, blue light filter technology, photochromic, and polarized sunglasses.
If your prescription is stronger than -4.00, it would be beneficial to get thin, high index lenses to decrease the weight and increase optical clarity.
The protection plan covers any accidental damage or defects for a period of 2 years. If you have any issues, please contact Customer Service to get your prescription glasses replaced, free of charge.
We strongly recommend purchasing one of our cleaning kits to keep your prescription glasses looking like new.
Yes, you can get over-the-counter reading glasses in your preferred power or diopter just like you were buying them in-store or from your optometrist. We also offer custom prescription reading glasses that can be made to order according to your prescription.
